Midori Ikeda: Chronology


1943

Born in Hamhung, North Korea.
Repatriated a er the war, growing up in Akita,
Sapporo, and Kushiro
Currently lives in Obihiro

1966

Graduated Hokkaido University of Education
Teaches Japanese/art at Obihiro Kita High School (retiring in 1993)

2001

Lives and works in New York (through March 2002)
with a grant from Hokkaido Arts Foundation

2004

Studies in New York through Japanese Government
Agency for Cultural A airs Program of Overseas Study for Artists

2005

Receives Tokachi Culture Award

2010

Publishes 444 Days (private book of her 444 columns appearing 1995–2010 in Tokachi Mainichi Shimbun)
